Knitting – Beyond the Basics

Evening Workshop

This workshop is designed for newer knitters who would like to take their knitting skills up a notch. It is ideal for those who have already done my ‘Learn to Knit’ workshop or have mastered casting on, casting off, and the knit and purl stitches.

The workshop includes:-
  • different ways of increasing and decreasing stitches,
  • how to read a knitting pattern (and what all those abbreviations mean!),
  • knitting a sample square to determine tension,
  • choosing suitable yarn for a project and using the information given on the ball band to help,
  • picking up dropped stitches.

Although there is no ‘project’ associated with this workshop, the accompanying pack does include an easy jumper pattern for those eager to embark on their first garment.

Materials: If you already have a pair of size 4mm knitting needles, please bring them with you; otherwise needles can be purchased on the day.
Yarn for this workshop (but not the jumper!) is included in the price.
