Our range of Workshops
See the sidebar for the dates of our forthcoming courses.
Learn How To Knit - for complete beginners
Learn the basics, and start on your first-ever project — a chunky scarf for the cold season.
Improvers’ Knitting Course - for knitters who know the basics
Learn to increase & decrease stitches to add shape to your work, follow a pattern and change colours to create striped patterns.
Make a tea cosy or hat, or perhaps bring a suggestion of your own.
Fair Isle & Intarsia - for experienced knitters ready to move to more advanced work
Learn Intarsia (blocks of colour) & Fair Isle (the colours not currently needed are left at the back and woven in). Use them to add colour and interest to a cushion cover.
Make a Felted Bag (2 days) - for knitters who know the basics
Learn the expertise and confidence to make your own, original bag.
Day One is for knitting the basic design, and includes the techniques of picking up stitches and then knitting on a circular needle. Having made the basic bag, you go away and felt it in the washing machine.
Day Two is the opportunity to let your imagination loose in finishing, lining and embellishing the handbag to your own personal taste.
Finishing Techniques - to help you sew up & finish something you've already knitted
Learn how to achieve the finished, professional look that your time and hard work deserve.
The workshop includes different types of buttonhole, ‘blocking out’ and pressing, successful seams and picking up stitches to make neckbands and borders.
Knitting ‘in the round’ - for knitters who are confident to cast on, knit and purl
Learn to use circular or double-pointed needles to avoid sewing up those seams once you’ve finished – a stage that many knitters go to great lengths to avoid! Learn the techniques of circular knitting, and then embark upon a pair of fingerless gloves for autumn and winter.
Lace Knitting - for knitters with experience
Discover knitting with fine yarn and the techniques to create beautiful lace designs, and begin a scarf.
Entrelac Knitting - for knitters with experience
Learn to knit using a technique that produces a 'woven' style effect, that can be used to create bags, scarves, borders, tea cosies and more! Learn the basics, and then move on to beginning a bag or
a cushion cover.
One to One Tuition
If you're unable to make our Workshop dates, or if you prefer to learn privately, we offer one-to-one tuition, which we tailor to whatever you are interested in learning. £6 per 15 minutes.
